Split-Thickness Skin Graft (STSG)
Overview
STSG is a surgical repigmentation technique in which a thin layer of autologous skin is harvested from a donor site and transplanted to a prepared depigmented area.
How It Works
The donor skin contains melanocyte-rich epidermal tissue. After harvesting, the graft is carefully prepared and transferred to the recipient site, where it supports repigmentation through the introduction of functional pigment-producing cells.
