Vitiligo and Alcohol

Liquor, a popular beverage and loved by a number of people. However, the happens or aggravations of vitiligo that lead by liquor are commonplace. Excessive drinking people usually gain vitiligo easier, and some clinic patients clearly indicated their initial vitiligo is result of liquor, some other patients found their vitiligo spread after every drinking.

For some patients who work on food-service or unable abandon liquor, the spreading of vitiligo usually hard to be controlled. The mechanism might relate to the neuroendocrine function reduction, liver damage, and the non-absorbing or protein and zinc that caused by excessive drinking. Besides, the vitiligo is directly caused by the damage of melanocytes, the cell membrane, cell nucleus and mitochondrion all can be influenced by alcohol, and thus, melanocytes get damaged. On one hand, the alcohol can excited sympathetic nerve, accelerate heart speed, and lead the secretion of noradrenaline indirectly, therefore, promote the death of melanocytes. On the other hand, excessive drinking could lead the blood circulatory disorder and further lead the anoxia to the cell tissues, thereby, lead the aggravation of vitiligo.
