Tyrosinase is a copper enzyme present in microorganisms, plants, and animals. Different tyrosinases obtained from several biological sources have similar structural and functional characteristics.

The tyrosinase plays an important role in the oxidation of L-Tyrosine to human skin melanin that produced by melanocytes. Therefore, if there anything wrong happened on the melanocytes, or tyrosinase, or the lack of L-tyrosine could lead the vitiligo.
